The Rooms

A graceful hotel that preserved the past with all the comforts of the modern day.

Formerly a bank, this architecturally stunning building now houses a 10-room boutique hotel with a formal restaurant, a private dining room, a lounge and a covered patio, perfect for a lunch with friends.


With only three to four rooms per floor, The Carlyle Inn offers peace, quiet and privacy.  Our selection of beds and layouts ensures that we have the perfect room for your visit, whether you are alone and travelling on business, or your whole family is looking for the perfect place to stay.


The rooms are fully modernized, but have all been finished with period details, colours and furniture in keeping with the historic architecture of the building and the town of Port Hope.


All of our rooms include a flat screen television and a Keurig coffee maker for that first, relaxed morning cup before you head down for a full breakfast in the dining room.  Our bathrooms include hairdryers and all amenities a traveler for pleasure or business would require.

Third Floor Rooms


Room 1: The Honeymoon Suite

$180-$225 per night



This stunning third floor room has a spacious foyer entrance for added privacy. The large bedroom boasts a stunning king-sized bed and then a separate living area gives visitors space to stretch out and relax with a book in hand.


The Honeymoon Suite includes a large and spa-like ensuite bathroom with a two-person jacuzzi tub and all the amenities one would expect. High ceilings, warm-tones and comfortable period furniture all come together to give you the perfect time at the Carlyle Hotel.


Room 2: Queen Room

$140-$170 per night



Warm colours and large windows light up this third floor room, while high ceilings create an elegance and ambiance not found in modern architecture. This room is quiet and includes a lovely writing desk, A generous queen bed, and wing chairs to ensconce our guests with comfort. The ensuite bathroom maintains its period features and an antique washstand while ensuring all modern comforts and amenities are supplied.


Room 3: King Room with Fireplace

$150-$180 per night



A large, third floor room boasting high ceilings and a quiet, secluded outlook.  Creamy walls with blue accents decorate the large king bed, comfortable seating area and a gas fireplace for a cozy evening.


The spacious ensuite bathroom is fully modernized while preserving touches of the old hotel in the wainscotting and a period washstand.


Room 4: Queen Room

$140-$170 per night



Enter through a spacious foyer with ample closet space for added privacy. The high ceilings in this third floor room maximize the light from large windows overlooking a quiet, wooded area. This room is furnished in pine Canadiana furniture and lovely antiques, warm biscuit colours accented with blue and mocha create a cozy and realizing atmosphere.


The ensuite bath is modern and includes all amenities.


Second Floor Rooms:


Room 5: Queen Fireplace Room

A stunning second floor room, opens onto a spacious foyer with ample closet space.  Large French windows and wrought iron balconets overlook a historic church.


Finished with warm creams and green accents, pine Canadiana furniture and lovely wing chairs to sink into in front of the fireplace. The spacious and private ensuite bathroom includes all amenities.


Room 6: Queen Bed Room

A light-filled room with two large sets of windows opening onto wrought-iron balconents.  Room includes 1 queen bed and a separate seating area with fireplace.  Room 6 is finished with warm biscuit colours and mocha accents.


Ample closet space for storage and a lovely ensuite bathroom with all amenities.


Room 7: 1 Queen Bed & 1 Double Bed

Enter via a spacious foyer providing added privacy. Furnished with oak furniture and comfortable wing chairs, large windows fill this room with light and open onto an old wrought-iron balconet.


The ensuite bathroom includes all amenities.


First Floor Rooms:

Our first floor rooms are wheelchair accessible, although the bathrooms are not fully fitted.


Room 8: 2 Double Beds

$140-$170 per night



A lovely room, recently refurbished in a tranquil mint green, contains two oak double beds and ample closet space. The flat screen TV is tucked away in an old armoire, preserving the peace of the space for our guests.


The lovely and large ensuite bathroom is also newly refinished and contains all amenities.


Room 9: 1 Queen Bed & 1 Single Bed

This ground floor room overlooks a private, wooded area.  Recently redecorated in a soft, buttery yellow with period-mouldings, this room contains one queen bed and one twin bed, perfect for a young family visiting the area.


A seating area includes a writing desk, two deep wing-back chairs and a flat screen tv. The new refurbished bathroom includes all amenities for a comfortable stay at the hotel.


Room 10: 2 Queen Beds, Private Entrance

This ground floor room is the largest room in the hotel, and includes a private entrance and spacious foyer for added privacy. Misty green walls, original mouldings and wainscotting preserve the period details of this historic building, while ensuring that all modern comforts are met.


This room features two mahogany queen beds and a comfortable seating area with two large wing chairs, a flat screen tv and a writing desk. Newly refinished ensuite bathroom provides all the amenities one would expect.
